Attention Contractors and Homeowners : The Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC) became effective on December 1, 2010. This means that all construction within the State of Maine must be completed to the standards of the MUBEC. The MUBEC is comprised of the following codes, with revisions:

2009 International Building Code

2009 International Existing Building Code

2009 International Residential Code

2009 International Energy Conservation Code

2007 ASHRAE Standard 62.1 (Commercial Ventilation)

2007 ASHRAE Standard 62.2 (Residential Ventilation and Air Quality)

2007 ASHRAE Standard 90.1 (Energy Standard)

2006 Maine Model Radon Standard ASTM E1465-06

These codes can be purchased online at www.ICC.safe.org and www.ASHRAE.org .

It is expected that all construction be completed in compliance with the MUBEC, although the Town will not complete inspections of most building elements. The Maine Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules and Internal Plumbing Code will still be enforced through inspections.

If anyone has questions about the MUBEC and compliant construction please contact the CEO.
