Library Advisory Committee:
The Library Advisory Committee is composed of 7 members who are the officers and members of the non-profit corporation known as the Fryeburg Women's Library Club. They meet in the early spring for their Annual Meeting in keeping with the Bylaws of the Corporation. Although the library is now known as The Fryeburg Public Library, it has maintained its corporate status under the name of The Fryeburg Women's Library Club, incorpora ted as a non-profit corporation with the State of Maine in 1902. The committee also meets during the year on an "as needed" basis for the Librarian to update them on changes and current policies and procedures. This committee is advisory in nature and was formally established in 1996 to oversee monies raised from fundraising events and to meet requirements of the by-laws of the corporation, when the Library was turned over to the town. The vote of the Advisory Committee is required for any and all expenditures from funds acquired through fundraising and for some expenditures of library's inves ted funds, held by the town.
Parks Committee:
The Parks Committee is composed of 7 members and meets as needed. The general duty of the Parks Committee is to maintain and improve the Town's parks, which consist of Canal Bridge Campground and Public Beach , Weston's Beach, Lovewell Pond Monument , Jockey Cap, Perry Park, The Frye Place, Krasker Landing on Bog Pond and Graustein Park . The majority of the maintenance work including mowing, brush clean up, and trash clean up, is comple ted by D & J Lawn Care Service.
Recreation Committee:
The Fryeburg Recreation Committee is a non-profit organization whose goal is to provide opportunities for residents of Fryeburg and surrounding towns to participate in recreational activities. These opportunities come from fundraising activities of the Committee. Since it's formation in 1988 the Rec. Committee has raised all the money to purchase the 20-acre "Field of Dreams", and with the help of the Maine Army National Guard turned it into a wonderful Community Recreation Complex. Continued fundraising of the committee provides upgrades and maintenance to the Community Complex. The committee also provides for all the equipment, uniforms and all other expenses that support recreational activities for the Rec. Department. The Committee meets monthly
Cemetery Committee:
The Cemetery Committee is responsible for preserving and making improvements to the local cemeteries. Activities include general maintenance such as fence repair and stone repairs. The Committee meets in the spring to discuss summer projects and on an as needed basis for the remainder of the year.
Beautification Committee:
As the name reveals, the Beautification Committee holds the task of making the town an attractive place. The most notable achievements of the Committee include planting and maintaining the flowers at the roadway islands and in the barrels along Main Street . In the past the Committee has also placed wreaths or flags on the poles throughout the town. The Committee currently does not meet on a regular basis but is expecting to begin a regular meeting schedule in the near future.
Volunteers and friends of the committee are primarily responsible for completing the work on behalf of the committee, and their assistance is greatly appreciated. For more information about the committee please contact Tracy Eng at 935-3372 or at masterpacker1953@gmail.com "
