REMINDER - Submit your homestead exemption applications by April 1, 2017.
NOTE- Throughout 2016 & 2017, the Assessor will be completing inspections for property tax assessing purposes. M.R.S.A. Title 36, Section 328 requires that properties be inventoried and inspected at least once every 4 years. The inspection will generally consist of a "drive-by inspection" and will check for the condition of the structures and will look for structures that have been added or removed since the last assessment. This is being completed to make sure that the tax assessments are fair, accurate, and equitable. The goal is to complete assessments of all properties within the next 2 years. Property owners will receive a letter in advance of the inspections to make them aware of the upcoming inspection and provide them with an opportunity to schedule a time to meet.
