BOARD OF SELECTMEN ATTENDEES: Diane Gushee, Harry True, Allan Trumbull, June Irvine, Dave Miles, Don Davidson, Gary Whitten It was moved to go into Executive Session pursuant to MRSA 1 405 (3-0) to discuss Chief Miles recommendation for hiring a Reserve Officer. When the Board came out of Executive Session it announced its decision to hire Daniel Nowell as a reserve officer pending receipt of written recommendations. Elbridge Russell volunteered the services of the Saco River Recreation Council at Canal Bridge for collecting parking fees. He said they already have people on site. The Board of Selectmen recommended that the SRRC contact the Parks Committee since it has been given the responsibility of coming up with a plan to implement a fee system. 1 concealed weapons permit was signed. The Board signed a liquor license renewal for the Oxford House Inn. Bids were opened for the Tax Acquired Property sale. They were as follows: Map 53, Lot 87 The property was awarded to Charles Johnson Map 16, Lot 63 The Property was awarded to Thomas Allen. The bids were opened
for drilling of a well at the Transfer Station. They were as follows: The bid was awarded to Western Maine Water. It was moved to
accept Darryl Robinson's bid to rototill the Septage fields for $6500.
The Board instructed June to ask him for a Certificate of Insurance.
(3-0) June read a letter from Denis Berube of John O'Donnell Associates regarding reasons currently used to review properties. It was suggested that notice be given to the property owner before the visits were made. June will discuss this with Denis as well as sending a copy of Denis' letter to Irving Thurston who brought up the issue at a previous meeting. The Board signed an agreement regarding the Town of Stow's usage of the Transfer Station. They instructed Don Davidson that the cut off date for Stow residents to have stickers would be July 1, 2002 and to post a notice to that effect. Diane read a notice regarding parking and dogs at the Rec. Field. She also announced a plant sale on Saturday at Bradley Park from 9-2 for the benefit of the Beautification Committee. Allan said the situation regarding the waste oil heater at the Transfer Station needs to be addressed. It was moved and seconded to go into Executive Session to discuss hiring a new employee for the Highway Department pursuant to 1 MRSA 405. When the BOS came out of Executive Session it was voted to hire Clifton Johnson for $10.30/hour pending letters of recommendation. The minutes were approved and the warrant was signed.
