BOARD OF SELECTMEN Diane asked residents whose wells have gone or are going dry to call the Town Office. The State is trying to compile this information for possible disaster relief for the drought. The Harvest Hills contract was signed by the BOS. The BOS signed a Participation Agreement and Declaration of Trust for the MMEHT. 2 Concealed Weapons permits were signed. The BOS voted to accept Everett Smith's resignation from the Fryeburg Police Department (3-0). June presented DOT's project solicitation form requesting the intersections at Hemlock Bridge Rd & 302 and River St. and Main St. be reviewed for alleviation of Traffic problems. Allan suggested that the Indian Acres Hill curve be added to the list. The BOS voted to keep the 1989 GMC truck for the Transfer Station. Gary said it was in good running condition as long as a plow is not used. The BOS voted 3-0 to purchase a John Deere loader from Nortrxx per their quotation of $53,000. The BOS discussed the possibility of expanding the Transfer Station and decided to ask for volunteers for a small committee to investigate the possibilities. This committee should include representatives from Stow and Sweden if they continue to be interested in negotiating their Towns' use of the Fryeburg facility. Diane suggested that Stow could rent a recycling bin like the one at the Whistle Stop in West Baldwin. The BOS asked the Highway and Transfer Station Departments to present request for additional personnel with back-up data at the April 4th meeting. Don Thibodeau, June Irvine The Government Committee's first meeting will be on April 3, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. The BOS approved June's request to create an Internet Policy with the assistance of Buzz Pratt. The BOS declined making a recommendation for the Contest for Communities this year. A Public Hearing was scheduled for the May 2, 2002 Selectmen's Meeting on the Fir Trees at Bradley Park. The Board asked June to invite Bruce Viel to a meeting to discuss charging for parking at the Canal Bridge canoe put-in. It was moved and seconded to go into Executive Session to confer with the Town Attorney Regarding the Town's legal rights and obligations with respect to a proposal by Pure Mountain Springs LLC. When the BOS came out of Executive Session they voted to ask June and Buzz to collaborate on a letter to Pure Mountain Springs LLC for their approval and signature. It was moved to go into to interview a possible replacement for the Building Inspector position. When the BOS came out of Executive Session it was moved and voted (3-0) to appoint David Gould to the position of CEO/Building/Plumbing Inspector. This position will be a stipend position @$25,000 with $200/month. June will work with David on a job description and schedule. The position will be reviewed in 6 months.
