BOARD OF SELECTMEN
February 21, 2002

ATTENDEES: George Weston, Diane Gushee, June Irvine, David Miles, Gary Whitten, Don Davidson

The meeting was opened with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. George Congratulated the Fryeburg Academy Nordic and Alpine Ski teams for being the Class B Champions.

Emily reported on her plans for the Children's Room at the Library and asked the BOS to approve $8500 for the work to be done by Joe Kiesman. The BOS approved (2-0).

The BOS agreed to put an article on the Warrant to let the voters decide if they want the Town to purchase a Radar trailer, although they make no recommendation at this time.
(2-0).

Gary asked the BOS to approve putting a clutch in the 1989 GMC truck which would then be put out to bid. Any revenue received from the sale of the truck would go in to the General Fund.

Gary asked the BOS if they would put an article on the Warrant regarding subbing out the North Fryeburg route. He figures the cost to sub the route out to be approximately $30,000. The 6 month winter employee position would be eliminated and the 1974 plow truck would be sold. His main problem is that filling a seasonal position is very difficult. The Town would still furnish salt. The BOS tabled this issue and asked Gary to come up with some cost figures for the next meeting on March 7th.

June asked to BOS' approval to put an article on the Warrant regarding a change in the administration of the Maine Municipal Employees' Health Trust. The BOS approved
(2-0) providing Buzz Pratt was comfortable with the article.

June advised the BOS that DOT is asking for input on projects that the Town would like considered for MDOT's fiscal year 2004-2005 BTIP or 2004-2009 Six Year Plan. The BOS asked June to get together with Gary and come up with some recommendations.

George commented that there needed to be communication with DOT on projects when there are problems, such as the deep ditches on River St. which are not apparent when there is snow.

A revision of the Town's policy on Health Insurance was signed.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

June Irvine, Administrative Assistant
