BOARD OF SELECTMEN
January 24, 2002

ATTENDEES: George Weston, Diane Gushee, Harry True, June Irvine, David Miles

2 Concealed Weapons Permits were signed. 10 Municipal Quit Claim Deeds were signed.

June read a letter from Attorney Pratt giving his opinion on the Oak Ridge St. situation. He felt the BOS had acted correctly in not accepting the road at a previous meeting because the Road Commissioner had not recommended it. Harry moved to postpone a revote on acceptance until the question can be presented at Town Meeting. It was so voted 3-0.

Dick Krasker spoke on the issue of parking fees at the canoe put-ins. He feels the Town has to decide
1. Has canoe population increase benefited the Town?
2. Should Town come up with a way for non-local users to pay for impact?

The BOS decided to put the issue on the Town meeting warrant as a non-binding question.

The issue of sharing our Transfer Station facility with Stow and Sweden was discussed. The Board feels that the present facility is too small too handle Fryeburg, let alone other towns. They asked June to get a quote to increase size of Transfer Station per the original plans in order to put a question on the Town meeting warrant in March. It was suggested that she get in touch with Buzz Coleman.

Chief Miles reported on Vehicle Registrations. There have been 35 vehicles registered. He explained that no overtime had been paid to collect almost $5200. The department is still plugging away on the project.

The BOS approved putting the old dump truck up for bid.

George has been concerned about snowmobile parking at Peary Park. The Academy has dictated no snowmobiles on school property. Chief Miles said the snowmobiles were becoming a nuisance. Jim Thurston said he would advise parents of parking ban at Peary Park in the school newspaper. He would also take charge of contacting the snowmobile club to have No Parking and Private "Dead End" Trail signs erected.

The BOS approved an article for reactivation of the government committee for the Town Meeting Warrant.

Harry will check his schedule so the BOS can schedule a meeting to vote on the warrant articles.

Linwood Buck advised the BOS that the Planning Board had two zoning ordinance articles for the warrant.
1. A housekeeping article
2. An article permitting go-cart tracks with planning board approval

Diane said she had attended the meeting with DEP on the Shoreland zoning and had found it very interesting.

She asked June to contact MSAD 72 to see if a list of Fryeburg students with addresses can be obtained.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20.

Respectfully Submitted,

June Irvine, Administrative Assistant
